Field Engineer – APC NetBotz Environmental Monitoring Installation
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Infrastructure Field Engineer to handle the physical installation, cabling, and software configuration of an APC NetBotz environmental monitoring system. The project involves rack-mounting the base unit, deploying sensors (temperature, humidity, and leak detection) in the server room, and configuring alert thresholds.
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
1. Hardware Installation & Cabling
NetBotz Deployment: Physical rack-mounting of the NetBotz base station (e.g., Series 250).
Sensor Placement: Strategic installation of 4x Temperature & Humidity sensors at the front of the racks (Cold Aisle) or in the server room as apprpopriate.
Leak Detection: Installation and routing of a 40ft Leak Rope Sensor (base + extension) beneath the raised floor.
Cable Management: Professional routing and labeling of all Cat6 and sensor cables to ensure a clean, "data-center grade" finish.
2. System Configuration & Integration
Network Setup: Configuration of IP addresses, Subnet, and Gateway via Serial Console or Web UI.
Threshold Calibration: Setting up critical and warning thresholds for environmental parameters (Temp/Humidity).
Alert Integration: Configuring SMTP/Email notifications and SNMP Traps for real-time alerting.
UAT (User Acceptance Testing): Conducting functional tests, including a "wet test" for the leak rope and alert triggers.
3. Qualifications
Proven Experience: Prior experience with APC/Schneider Electric NetBotz or similar DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) hardware.
Data Center Standards: Deep understanding of server room safety protocols and cable management best practices.
Technical Writing: Ability to provide a brief As-built Report including a sensor location map and test results.
Tools: Must possess basic field tools (label maker, screwdriver set, laptop with console cable).
4. Preferred Skills
Schneider Electric / APC certified professional.
Experience with StruxureWare Data Center Expert integration.
5. Project Deliverables
Payment will be released upon successful demonstration of live environmental data and a triggered test alert to the administrator's email.
