Project Description
I’m ready to take a new one-piece unitard from concept to production and need a technical pattern maker who lives and breathes activewear. The project centres on a single garment, but it has to perform like the best in the market: moisture-wicking, true compression support and excellent breathability are non-negotiable.
What I will provide
• Sketches, reference images and target fabric specifications
• Desired size range and measurement chart
What I need from you
• A production-ready digital pattern for the unitard (DXF/PDF/AAMA preferred)
• Accurate grading across the supplied size set
• Seam, stitch and construction notes optimised for stretch fabrics
• Clear notches and markings to ensure factory-friendly assembly
• Short fit-testing summary or virtual sample screenshots confirming mobility & compression placement
Tools such as Gerber AccuMark, Optitex or CLO 3D are perfectly acceptable—as long as the final files open cleanly and are laid out along grain with efficient marker use.
Acceptance criteria
1. Pattern pieces align and sew together without distortion in 4-way stretch fabric.
2. Graded sizes maintain compression zones proportionally.
3. Breathability panels and moisture-wicking zones match the design sketch.
4. All files deliver error-free and ready for manufacturer hand-off.
Key Design Decision (Collaboration Required):
I am currently evaluating two access system options and would like your input before finalizing:
Option A: Concealed crotch-access zipper integrated into gusset
Option B: Detachable waist system (partial or full zipper)
I am looking for your recommendation based on:
Comfort during wear
Ease of use (especially under clothing)
Construction feasibility
Technical Requirements:
Experience with 4-way stretch fabrics
Experience with bodysuits, unitards, or activewear
Understanding of:
Gusset construction (diamond gusset preferred)
Zipper integration in stretch garments
Fit for movement (sitting, bending, walking)
Additional Notes:
Garment is intended to be worn as a base layer
Comfort and real-world usability are very important
I am open to technical suggestions to improve the design
If this sounds like your specialty, let’s talk timelines and any questions you have about fabric, trims or additional tech-pack details.
