Project Overview:
I am looking for an experienced Shopify developer / automation specialist to completely restructure my product categories and collections, and implement an automated system to correctly categorise all current and future products.
My store currently uses Make.com and OpenAI to generate product listings, and I want to extend this system so that AI automatically assigns categories, subcategories, and product types with minimal manual input.

Scope of Work:
1. Full Category & Collection Restructure
- Redesign the store’s category structure into 5 main animal categories
(e.g. Dogs, Cats, etc.)
- Create logical, conversion-focused subcategories under each
- Ensure structure is clean, scalable, and easy for customers to navigate
2. Reassign All Existing Products
- Review and correctly categorise all current products
- Assign each product to:
-The correct main category
-The correct subcategory
- Ensure consistency across the entire catalogue
3. AI-Based Categorisation System (Critical)
Using my existing Make.com + OpenAI workflow, implement:
- Automatic categorisation of products based on:
-Product title
-Description
-Attributes
- AI should determine:
-Main category (e.g. Dog, Cat)
-Subcategory (e.g. Collars, Toys, Grooming)
- System must work for:
-Existing products (bulk processing)
-New products (ongoing automation)
4. Metafield “Type” System for Filtering
- Create and implement a metafield system:
-Metafield name: type
-AI must assign a value based on product type
*Example:
- Category: Dog Collars & Leads
-Collar product → type = “Collars”
-Lead product → type = “Leads”
This will be used for:
- Frontend filtering
- Improved customer navigation
5. Automation Integration
- Modify or extend my existing Make.com scenario
- Ensure:
-AI assigns categories + types during product creation
-System runs automatically with minimal oversight
- Must be reliable and scalable
6. Shopify Implementation
- Ensure categories and metafields are correctly reflected in:
-Collections
-Navigation/menu structure
-Product pages (if needed for filtering)

Requirements:
- Strong experience with Shopify (collections, metafields, product structure)
- Experience with Make.com (Integromat) automation
- Experience integrating OpenAI into workflows
- Understanding of ecommerce UX (category structure for conversions)
- Ability to design scalable systems (not just manual fixes)
