I need a complete, reproducible ANSYS Workbench/LS-Dyna model that shows how a bullet penetrates a three-layer ballistic plate (ceramic front, composite middle, aluminium backing) when struck at a constant velocity. My main interest is the deformation history of each layer, but I also want hard numbers on residual penetration depth and a clear comparison of how alternative material grades or lay-ups would behave under the same conditions. You will be working with the integrated LS-Dyna material library, so please apply appropriate Johnson-Cook or similar high-strain-rate models for the projectile and each plate layer. Contact definitions, erosion criteria and hourglass control need to be chosen carefully so the results remain stable through complete perforation. Deliverables • ANSYS project file with fully parameterised geometry, meshing strategy and LS-Dyna load case for a constant-velocity impact. • Post-processing files (plots, animations) highlighting layer-by-layer deformation and failure modes. • Spreadsheet or table summarising numerical penetration depths and a brief comparison of at least two material variants. • Short report explaining modelling assumptions, material cards, boundary conditions and key findings. I will validate the model by running it on my own workstation, so all settings must be documented and no third-party add-ons should be required. If anything is unclear, let me know before starting; accuracy is more important than speed.
