Project Description
Project Brief: Stealth-Modified Automatic Parking Disc (Certified for Public Road Use in Germany)
Project Goal:
I want to technically modify a certified electronic parking disc approved for use in Germany (must have an official certification number and ECE approval), so that it continues to automatically update the displayed parking time even after the vehicle has been parked. This modification must be invisible and undetectable from the outside, meaning the device must look and behave like the original product to any observer or parking enforcement officer.
Background:
Standard electronic parking discs are designed to detect when a vehicle is turned off and then freeze the display at the next permissible half-hour mark. This allows parking enforcement to determine how long the car has been parked.
However, I want the parking disc to be modified so that it continues updating the time, effectively simulating that the vehicle has just been parked — regardless of how long it has been stationary. This means that the parking time shown on the display always remains within the legal limit, allowing me to park indefinitely without receiving a ticket.
What needs to be done:
• The base must be an officially approved German electronic parking disc, such as those from Park Lite, Needit, or similar.
• I can ship the device to you from Germany, or you can order it yourself (I’ll cover the cost).
• The device must be technically modified so that:
• The displayed time continues to update automatically, even after the engine is turned off.
• It always displays the next allowed parking time, rounded up to the next full or half hour according to German regulations.
Example Functionality:
• If the car is parked at 13:45, the disc should show 14:00.
• If parked at 14:00, it should show 14:30.
• If parked at 14:31, it should show 15:00, and so on.
• After that, the device should continue to update the display regularly, so it always appears as if the car was parked just moments ago.
Key Requirements:
• The modification must be completely undetectable from the outside. The parking disc should look and behave exactly like an unmodified, legally approved product.
• The functionality must be fully automatic. No user interaction should be needed after parking.
• No visible alterations (e.g., wires, unusual controls, abnormal movement patterns).
• Power should remain efficient — preferably still battery-powered or with a hidden upgrade that doesn’t draw attention.
Ideal Freelancer Profile:
I’m looking for someone with experience in electronics, microcontroller programming (e.g., Arduino), or embedded systems. Ideally, you’ve worked with consumer electronics, automotive modifications, or smart devices before. Both functionality and stealth are equally important for this project.
