Project Description
Advanced Electrochemical Surface Conditioning for High-Purity Components
Service Provider: Alfa Electropolishing Pvt Ltd
1. Project Overview
This project involves the electropolishing (EP) of stainless steel components—including tanks, process piping, and intricate aeronautical parts—to achieve a microscopically smooth, ultra-clean surface. Unlike mechanical polishing, this electrochemical process removes a controlled layer of surface material, eliminating burrs, micro-peaks, and embedded contaminants.
2. Technical Objectives
• Surface Roughness (Ra) Reduction: Achieving specific Roughness Average (Ra) targets (e.g., < 0.4 µm) to meet stringent industry standards.
• Enhanced Corrosion Resistance: Facilitating a chrome-rich passive layer that protects against pitting and oxidation.
• Sterility & Hygiene: Eliminating microscopic "pockets" where bacteria or product residue can hide, ensuring a high level of cleanability.
• Aesthetic Uniformity: Providing a consistent, high-luster mirror finish across complex geometries.
3. Quality Verification: Surface measurement using the ZEISS HANDYSURF+ to confirm Ra values and visual inspection for uniformity.
4.Key Deliverables
• Surface Finish Report: Comprehensive Ra value measurement data.
• Certificate of Compliance: Documentation verifying the process meets ASTM B912 or specific industry audit requirements.
• Ready-to-Install Components: Parts that are fully passivated, debris-free, and vacuum-sealed if required.
6.Target Applications
• Pharmaceutical: Pressure vessels, fermentation tanks, and manifolds.
• Food & Dairy: Heat exchangers, mixing blades, and transfer lines.
• Aeronautical: Specialized precision brackets and fluid delivery components.
• Semiconductor: Ultra-high purity gas delivery systems.
