Job Title: Technical Report Writer & AI Transcription Specialist (Building Surveys)
About Us:
We are a premier building consultancy company that surveys commercial premises across New Zealand and the Pacific. We are looking to outsource the transcription and formatting of our highly technical building survey reports to a detail-oriented freelancer or agency.
The Role:
You will be responsible for translating raw video footage from our building surveyors into polished, professional reports using Google Workspace and AI tools. We have a highly documented, step-by-step Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) via Scribe that you will follow.
Your general workflow will involve:
- Accessing unlisted YouTube playlists of our site surveys.
- Extracting video transcripts with precise timestamps using external tools.
- Utilizing AI platforms (like Claude or Gemini) with specific prompting to map the transcript data into our proprietary report tables.
- Manually verifying AI outputs by cross-referencing timestamps to capture and insert accurately formatted (4:3) screenshots of defects or observations into Google Docs.
Requirements:
AI Problem-Solving Skills: You must be highly proficient in prompting and managing AI tools to format technical data.
High Attention to Detail: You are matching specific visual defects in a video to their corresponding text descriptions. Accuracy is non-negotiable.
Tech Stack: Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets, and basic screenshot/cropping tools.
Excellent written English and comprehension of building/construction terminology is a massive plus.
Compensation & Scope:
This is a fixed-rate role at $NZD 200 to 300 per completed report.
The faster and more accurately a report is completed, the higher your effective hourly rate becomes.
We will begin with a paid trial period (3-4 reports).
Upon successful completion, we are looking for a long-term, ongoing partnership.
