Project Description
I’m looking for a seasoned database specialist who can own our PostgreSQL estate on Amazon RDS while also running Oracle GoldenGate replication between mixed-source systems. The environment is fast moving, so I need someone comfortable working 2:00 pm-11:00 pm IST and collaborating with teams across India.
Your day-to-day work will centre on three core areas:
• PostgreSQL on Amazon RDS – provisioning, patching, performance tuning, query and index optimisation, plus airtight backup-and-recovery plans that meet our compliance targets.
• Oracle GoldenGate – configuration, monitoring and troubleshooting of real-time, bidirectional replication to keep critical workloads in sync with near-zero latency.
• Automation & observability – scripting routine DBA tasks in Python or Shell, wiring them into native AWS services (CloudWatch, Lambda, SNS, etc.) and proactively surfacing performance or security issues before they hurt the business.
Acceptance criteria
1. Databases run within agreed CPU, memory and I/O thresholds, with automated alerts and remediation scripts in place.
2. Recovery objectives are validated through quarterly fail-over tests and documented procedures.
3. GoldenGate lag remains below the SLA tolerance under sustained load, with clear runbooks for issue isolation.
4. All changes, scripts and dashboards are committed to our Git repository with concise documentation so the wider team can pick up where you leave off.
