Project Requirement – Electronic Shooting Target System Developer
We are looking for a skilled and passionate developer/engineer to build a DIY Electronic Shooting Target System based on the open-source freETarget project. The system will be used for air pistol and air rifle practice and scoring.
Project Overview
The project involves developing and assembling an electronic target system using ESP32/Arduino hardware, acoustic sensors, and desktop/mobile software integration. The system should accurately detect pellet impact positions and display real-time scores and shot analysis.
Responsibilities
Develop and customize the electronic target system
Work with ESP32/Arduino microcontrollers
Integrate microphone/acoustic sensors
Configure and modify open-source freETarget software
Design hardware wiring and sensor connections
Perform calibration and accuracy testing
Create a user-friendly interface/dashboard
Troubleshoot hardware and software issues
Assist in prototype development and deployment
Required Skills
Experience with Arduino or ESP32 development
Knowledge of embedded systems and electronics
Understanding of sensors and signal processing
C/C++, Python, or embedded programming knowledge
Basic PCB/circuit understanding
Experience with GitHub/open-source projects
Problem-solving and debugging skills
Preferred Skills
Experience in IoT projects
Knowledge of shooting sports/electronic scoring systems
Mobile app or web dashboard development
CAD/3D design experience
PCB design knowledge

About the Project
This project aims to develop a low-cost, high-accuracy electronic target system for shooting practice and training. The final product may later be expanded into a commercial product for shooting academies and sports training centers.
