Project Description
I'm seeking an expert in OCTOPUZ to program robots for a large production line. The primary focus will be on robot motion simulation and programming. I’ll write the specifics provided by my lecturer below.
A production line transports three types of item in a plant, namely, glass bottles, PET
bottles, and aluminium cans. The items come in a random order and a pick and place
robot system has been suggested as a way to palletize the product coming of the line.
The requirement is that items are separated and palletized into 2x4 pallets and
transported to the end of a roller conveyor where they will sit and await further
processing. After an initial survey of 40 units coming off the line, 18 were glass bottles,
12 were PET bottles, and 10 were aluminium cans. This trend has been checked and
was confirmed to be consistent. The operating speed of the feeding system
transporting the items into the cell is typically 150 mm/s with items coming off the line
at 3 second intervals. The production manager would like to know the cycle times for
each pallet of items and the space requirement for the entire robotic cell based on a
batch of 160 separate items coming off the line. The floor space available for this pick-
and place system is 7.5m x 10m square, but space is a premium and any
improvements on this allowance will be highly advantageous. The entire area must be
cordoned off in line with health and safety requirements
