We are a U.S.-based manufacturer of custom architectural steel windows and doors. We already have working SolidWorks template systems for fixed windows, casements, and casement/fixed/casement combinations. These existing files will be provided as the standard for how future templates must be structured, organized, dimensioned, and delivered. We are looking for an advanced SolidWorks professional or small team to help us extend this existing template system into additional product families, including swing doors, classic sliders, Defy sliders, and pivot doors. This is not a one-off modeling project. The goal is to create reusable, parametric SolidWorks templates that our internal team can use repeatedly to generate accurate shop drawings, production drawings, and BOM/cut-list information for custom architectural steel window and door projects. The selected freelancer/team must be able to study our existing completed templates and match the same logic, drawing style, file organization, and usability. Existing completed template examples We already have working templates for: Fixed windows Casement windows Casement/fixed/casement combinations These will be used as the benchmark for the new work. Product families to complete The project includes template development for: Swing doors Classic sliders Defy sliders Pivot doors We may phase the work by product family based on performance. Phase 1: Existing template audit Before beginning new template work, we want the selected freelancer/team to review our existing SolidWorks files and provide a short written audit confirming: How the existing templates are structured How configurations, equations, design tables, or parameters are being used How drawings and sheet formats are organized How BOM/cut-list information is generated Whether there are any broken references, file-structure risks, or improvement recommendations How they propose to match the existing standard for new templates Phase 2: Swing door template package Create reusable SolidWorks templates for swing door conditions, potentially including: Single swing door Pair/French door Door with sidelites Door with transom Outswing configuration Standard threshold condition Glass/lite layout control Frame, panel, muntin, and glazing relationships Shop drawing output Production drawing output BOM/cut-list output Phase 3: Slider and pivot door template packages Complete and/or build reusable templates for: Multi-slider Series 1 Panel/frame relationships Track/head/jamb/sill conditions Meeting stile/interlock relationships Glass/lite layout control Shop drawing output BOM/cut-list output Multi-slider Series 2 Slim sightline logic Panel/frame/track relationships Meeting stile/interlock relationships Glass/lite layout control Shop drawing output BOM/cut-list output Pivot door Pivot location control Door panel/frame relationships Clearances Glass/lite layout control Hardware placeholders Shop drawing output BOM/cut-list output Required deliverables For each product family/template, deliverables must include: Native SolidWorks part, assembly, and drawing files Reusable master template files Configurations, equations, design tables, or other parametric controls Drawing templates/sheet formats matching our existing standards Example completed shop drawing PDFs Production drawing output where applicable BOM/cut-list output Short written user guide Screen-recorded walkthrough showing how to use and modify the template Clean file structure with no broken external references Required experience The ideal freelancer/team should have strong experience with: Advanced SolidWorks modeling Parametric assemblies Configurations Equations Design tables Drawing automation Sheet formats and drawing templates BOM/cut-list automation Manufacturing documentation Controlled file references Reusable template development Preferred experience Experience with any of the following is a major plus: Architectural metal products Custom windows and doors Sliding door systems Swing door systems Pivot doors Curtain wall, storefront, façade, or glazing systems Steel fabrication Weldments Custom manufacturing environments PDM or formal file-control workflows Important clarification We are not looking for renderings or isolated 3D models. We are looking for a repeatable SolidWorks template system that our internal team can use to generate real project drawings and production information. The selected freelancer/team must be willing to work from our existing templates and match our current system rather than inventing an unrelated file structure. Proposal requirements Please include the following in your proposal: Examples of reusable SolidWorks templates or parametric systems you have built Experience with configurations, equations, design tables, or drawing automation Experience with windows, doors, glazing, façades, architectural metal, or custom manufacturing Your recommended approach to reviewing and matching our existing template system Your proposed phase structure Estimated hours for the initial audit Estimated hours for swing door templates Estimated hours for slider and pivot door templates Whether you can provide user guides and screen-recorded walkthroughs Confirmation that all files will be delivered with clean references and no dependency on your local file paths All SolidWorks files, templates, configurations, equations, design tables, drawings, outputs, and supporting documentation created under this project shall be the property of our company upon payment. Files must be delivered in editable native SolidWorks format with clean references and no dependency on the freelancer’s local file paths, add-ins, licenses, or proprietary tools unless approved in writing in advance.
