Project Description
I’m about to move a new community / youth center from concept to schematic design and need a structural engineer to shape the overall structural system. The architectural set is ready for review, and I’d like to bring the building out of the ground.
My preference is light-gauge steel for the walls, with open web composite joist for our floor system. Our top priority is to facilitate faster and smarter construction. What matters most is a buildable solution that meets U.S. codes and keeps the schedule tight.
You will receive the current architectural plans, preliminary loading criteria, and geotechnical data. In return, I’m expecting:
• A concise structural narrative that lays out the recommended system, lateral-force-resisting approach, and preliminary member sizing
• Mark-ups or sketches showing column grids, bearing lines, braced/shear wall locations, and an outline foundation concept
• Commentary on constructability, material availability, and any opportunities to shorten the construction timeline
Please base your work on IBC 2021, ASCE 7-16, AISI, AISC, and related U.S. standards, noting the references you use.
If we collaborate smoothly on this project, I have several upcoming developments and hope to build a long-term working relationship.
