Engineer for IoT Sensor PCB Design, DFM Review and Production Support. We are looking for an experienced electronics engineer / PCB designer to work with us on the development and production readiness of a small family of IoT sensor boards. The project is not just a one-off PCB task. We are looking for someone who can collaborate closely with our internal team, review existing board designs, improve them where needed, prepare them for manufacturing, and support the transition from prototype to small-batch production. The first task will be to review and refine an existing compact environmental sensor PCB. After that, we expect to work on approximately 4 to 5 additional sensor boards with similar requirements. The boards are small, low-voltage, sensor-oriented PCBs for IoT applications. They include digital sensor interfaces, connectors, basic protection components, test points, and manufacturing files. We need someone who can help us make the designs robust, manufacturable and production-ready. Scope of work: The selected engineer will help us with: Reviewing existing PCB designs and identifying electrical, layout, DFM and assembly issues. Improving schematics and PCB layouts where needed. Checking footprints, pinouts, libraries and component placement. Reviewing sensor placement, thermal/mechanical constraints and airflow considerations. Preparing production-ready files: Gerbers, drill files, BOM, pick-and-place, assembly drawings and fabrication notes. Validating BOM consistency, package sizes, part numbers and availability. Reviewing I2C/SPI sensor interfaces, pull-ups, protection components, connectors and test points. Advising on DFM/DFT for small-batch manufacturing. Preparing clear notes for PCB manufacturers and assembly houses. Supporting first prototype build, test and debugging. Helping define a repeatable workflow for future sensor boards. Required experience: We are looking for someone with solid experience in: PCB design for compact embedded / IoT devices. Low-voltage digital electronics, especially 3.3 V systems. Sensor boards and environmental sensing applications. I2C, SPI, UART and common embedded interfaces. DFM and DFA for professional PCB manufacturing. BOM preparation and component sourcing. Gerber, drill, IPC/netlist, pick-and-place and stencil files. Working with manufacturers such as JLCPCB, PCBWay, Seeed, Eurocircuits or similar. Reviewing manufacturer feedback and correcting production issues. Creating clear technical documentation. Experience with KiCad, Altium, EasyEDA, Flux or similar tools is welcome. Please mention which tools you normally use. Nice to have: The following experience would be especially valuable: Environmental sensors, gas sensors, air quality sensors or meteo sensors. Ultra-compact sensor board design. Low-power IoT devices. Design for outdoor or semi-outdoor sensor products. LoRa / BLE / WiFi IoT hardware. Sensor calibration or production testing. Experience preparing boards for small production runs. Expected deliverables For each board, we expect deliverables such as: Reviewed schematic. Reviewed or improved PCB layout. Corrected footprints and libraries where needed. Production-ready Gerber package. Drill files. BOM with real manufacturer part numbers. Pick-and-place file. Assembly notes. Fabrication notes. DFM checklist. Short review report with risks, corrections and recommendations. Collaboration style: We are looking for someone who can work directly with our team, communicate clearly, and explain technical decisions. We prefer a practical engineer who can balance quality, manufacturability, cost and speed. We do not need only a theoretical review. We need someone who can help us get the boards ready for real production. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working iteratively: review, comment, correct, prepare files, send to manufacturer, review feedback, and support prototype validation. Confidentiality Some project details will be shared only after selection and, if needed, under NDA. Please do not apply if you are not comfortable working with confidential product information. What to include in your proposal: Examples of compact PCB or IoT sensor boards you have designed. Your preferred PCB design tool. Your experience preparing files for PCB manufacturing and assembly. Your experience with sensor boards or low-power embedded devices. Your typical workflow from schematic review to production files. Your estimated availability over the next 4–8 weeks. Whether you prefer hourly work or milestone-based work.
