Project Description
PCB Designer Needed for Small LED Headphones Music Player Board with 1GB Storage
I need an experienced PCB designer to create a small manufacturable PCB for LED headphones. The main purpose of the device is to play music without a phone. Bluetooth is optional/secondary, but the product must work as a standalone music player.
The PCB should be compact, ideally no bigger than a USB flash drive, around 50 mm x 20 mm or smaller if practical.
Main function:
- Standalone music playback without phone
- 1GB onboard storage for downloaded music
- Music should be transferred to the device, preferably through USB if practical
- Audio output should go to headphone wires using solder pads or through-holes
- No headphone jack required
- LED output/control for LED headphones
- Bluetooth playback from phone is optional if it can be included without making the design too expensive or too large
The PCB should include:
- Music player/audio decoder chip or module
- 1GB onboard memory/storage, such as SPI NAND, eMMC, SD NAND, flash, or other low-cost option
- 3.7V Li-ion/LiPo battery input
- Battery charging and protection circuit
- 5V DC output using boost converter if needed
- Audio output solder pads or through-holes for headphone wires
- LED output pads for headphone LEDs
- Optional Bluetooth audio module/chip
- Optional accelerometer if practical
- One physical button only
- Long press: power on / power off
- Double press: next track / skip
- Triple press: previous track / back
- Optional single press: play / pause
- Test pads or programming/debug pads if needed
Important requirements:
The device must be able to play stored music by itself without being connected to a phone. Please recommend the best low-cost architecture for this. I need to know whether one chip/module can handle music playback, 1GB storage, USB music transfer, one-button control, LED control, and optional Bluetooth, or whether an additional MCU/audio decoder/storage controller is needed.
Please also advise whether the USB-sized PCB target is realistic with the selected parts. If not, suggest the smallest practical board size.
The goal is a low-cost, manufacturable design suitable for JLCPCB / LCSC assembly where possible. Please use common, low-cost, in-stock parts. Prefer a 2-layer PCB if practical.
Required deliverables:
- Recommended system architecture
- Schematic
- PCB layout source file, preferably EasyEDA or KiCad
- Gerber ZIP
- Drill files
- BOM with LCSC/JLCPCB part numbers where possible
- Pick-and-place / CPL file
- PDF schematic
- PDF PCB layout
- DRC/DFM check screenshots
- Basic notes explaining:
- standalone music playback path
- 1GB storage interface
- how music files are transferred to storage
- audio output pads
- LED output/control
- battery charging/protection
- power flow
- one-button control logic
- optional Bluetooth path if included
Please include examples of previous PCB projects, especially battery-powered music players, MP3 players, Bluetooth audio boards, LED headphone/wearable electronics, flash storage, USB file transfer, or small portable audio products.
Before full work starts, I may ask for a small paid milestone to confirm the architecture, chip/module selection, estimated BOM cost, board size, and feasibility.
Fixed price preferred. Please quote total cost and timeline.
Expected budget: $300–$500+ depending on experience, architecture, and deliverables.
