Project Description
I’m looking for a developer who can extend Adobe InDesign with a true “blacklining” experience focused purely on change tracking. My priority is to see every text edit I make—insertions, deletions, or replacements—automatically highlighted in a single, consistent colour so reviewers can scan a page and spot updates instantly.
Key points of what I need:
• A plug-in (C++, SDK-based or UXP) that hooks into normal text-editing actions and writes a change record in real time.
• Visual output must be a solid highlight applied to the affected range; no strikethroughs, underlines, balloons, or multi-colours—just one highlight style throughout the document.
• A simple panel to toggle tracking on/off, clear marks, and optionally jump between next/previous change.
• Highlights must survive save, close, and reopen, and must be preserved when the file is exported to PDF for proofing.
• Compatibility with the last three major versions of InDesign on both macOS and Windows.
I don’t need version management or full document comparison at this stage, just robust live tracking. Deliverables are the compiled plug-in, an installer or drag-and-drop bundle for each platform, and brief documentation (install, usage, uninstall). Source code is welcome but not mandatory if you prefer a compiled-only hand-off; let me know your approach.
If you have prior experience with the Adobe InDesign SDK, UXP, or similar text-tracking solutions, please outline it along with an estimated timeline for a first working build and final polished release.
