Project Description
We are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer / Grading Designer with strong expertise in grading design using Autodesk Civil 3D to help us create a practical technical test for candidate evaluations.
The goal is to develop a standardized grading assessment that can be completed by candidates in approximately 30 minutes. This test will be used during our hiring process to evaluate practical grading skills for land development projects in the U.S. market.
Scope of Work
You will be responsible for:
Creating a realistic but simplified grading exercise in Civil 3D
Preparing all required test files and instructions
Developing a clear grading objective and constraints
Creating an answer key / evaluation criteria
Helping us identify what a “good”, “average”, and “poor” submission looks like
Designing the test so it can be evaluated efficiently by non-civil-engineers with your guidance
The Test Should Include
Existing surface
Property boundary
Road frontage
Building footprint
Parking area
Drainage direction requirements
2-3 grading constraints
Small enough scope to be completed in ~30 minutes
Deliverables
The final deliverables should include:
Civil 3D files (.dwg)
Existing conditions
Candidate instructions PDF
Expected final grading solution
Evaluation rubric / scoring system
Recommended pass/fail criteria
Notes explaining common mistakes candidates may make
Requirements
Strong experience in grading design and land development
Advanced Civil 3D proficiency
Experience preparing grading plans for U.S. projects
Ability to simplify real grading scenarios into efficient technical tests
English communication skills required
Nice to Have
Experience interviewing or evaluating civil engineering candidates
Experience teaching Civil 3D or grading design
Experience creating technical assessments or training material
