I’m creating a children’s picture book set in a remote Australian desert community and need finely rendered, true-to-life illustrations—no cartoons, no stylised exaggeration. Every spread must capture the warm ochres of the sand, the sweep of spinifex grass, and the delicate tracks left by lizards, birds and other native creatures my young heroine uncovers on her daily explorations. Because authenticity matters, I’m after highly detailed work executed in pencil and ink. Your linework should convey the texture of red-dust dunes, the shimmer of distant heat, and the subtle movement of wildlife almost camouflaged against the landscape. Colour will be added later in production, so the drawings themselves need to stand on their own, rich in depth and natural accuracy. The focus is the landscape itself—expansive vistas, close-up ground stories told through footprints, nests and burrows—while still weaving in the fauna and flora that live there. I will supply reference photos and field notes for accuracy, but your own familiarity with Australian environments will be invaluable. Deliverables will include full-page scene illustrations, smaller spot images for page accents, and a wrap-around cover sketch, all supplied as high-resolution, scan-ready TIFFs or layered PSDs. Work-in-progress updates (initial thumbnails, refined line art, final cleaned scans) will be reviewed collaboratively so we keep the book’s visual narrative consistent. If you’ve sketched wedge-tail eagles in flight, traced goanna tracks at sunrise, or simply love capturing the raw beauty of outback Australia in meticulous detail, I’d love to see your portfolio and discuss scheduling.
