Project Description
Design a lightweight, adjustable mirror attachment that mounts to the top edge of a laptop display and reflects the keyboard, hands, and desk area into the laptop’s built-in webcam.
The goal is to enable the built-in webcam to capture the keyboard/workspace area without requiring an external camera.
Design Requirements
- Be compatible with a wide range of laptops, including MacBooks, Chromebooks, and other common models and support varying laptop lid/bezel thicknesses (approximately 2mm–10mm)
- Accommodate different webcam positions and placements across laptop models
- Avoid damaging the laptop, preventing screen scratches, avoiding excessive pressure on the display
leaving no permanent marks
- Avoid blocking or interfering with the webcam when folded away
- Be easy to attach, remove, and reposition
- Include adjustable mirror angles for proper camera alignment
- Maintain stable positioning after adjustment
- Minimize screen obstruction during normal laptop use
- Remain stable during typing and movement
- Provide clear reflection quality with minimal distortion
- Properly align the mirror with the built-in webcam
- Reflect the keyboard/workspace area clearly into the webcam view
- Allow easy mirror cleaning
- Maintain a clean, minimalistic industrial design
