I need a comprehensive dissertation exploring the relationship between banking sector development and foreign direct investment (FDI) in Sub-Saharan Africa, specifically focusing on the role of political stability, with an emphasis on corruption levels. Key requirements: - In-depth analysis of banking sector regulations and policies in Sub-Saharan Africa. - Examination of the impact of corruption on FDI and banking sector development. - Use of relevant data and case studies to support arguments. - Well-structured, academically rigorous, and properly cited. Ideal skills and experience: - Strong background in economics or finance. - Experience with political economy research. - Familiarity with Sub-Saharan African banking and political landscapes. - Excellent writing and analytical skills. Summary: The research gap is real, most studies look at banking development OR political stability as separate drivers of FDI. Very few examine them together specifically whether political instability cancels out the benefit of a well-developed banking sector. (reference) Most studies treat banking development and political stability as separate determinants of FDI. No study has tested whether political instability acts as a threshold that breaks the link between banking quality and FDI attraction across a broad cross country panel of developing economies. That is what this paper will test. Research question: Does banking sector development increase FDI inflows in developing countries, and does political instability weaken or eliminate this effect? Simple, testable with OLS and panel fixed effects, and data for all variables like FDI (% of GDP), domestic credit to private sector (% of GDP), political stability index, GDP growth, inflation, trade openness from the World Bank's World Development Indicators. I look forward to your bids!
