Project Description
I need a new WordPress design to revamp a minimalist yet fully functional PR platform focused on publishing press releases. This is not a commercial project; no revenue has been generated so far. The whole thing has been a test project, albeit one that has been running for years.
However, the project will begin with a fresh installation on a separate staging domain so that everything can be developed and tested without affecting the current live environment.
Key scope
• Installation of a ‘purchased’, modern and fully responsive theme that conveys a professional, media-oriented look and feel.
• Configuration of the website to ensure the automated process for press releases continues to run quickly and intuitively, and that PR announcements can be scheduled and published.
• Implementation of a new, secure login area with detailed user management (different roles for employees, partners, journalists, etc.).
• Reactivation of a minimalist shopping basket process that allows users to purchase selected items via PayPal – nothing complicated, just the essentials.
Technical workflow
1. Setting up and configuring the staging site.
2. Creating and designing the theme, integrating the press release module, the user system and the PayPal shopping basket.
3. Carrying out a full test cycle on the staging domain; I would like to see that the login, the publication of press releases and the PayPal checkout work seamlessly.
4. Once approved, migrate everything to the live domain.
Acceptance
The project is complete when the live website matches the staging version, all press release functions work as before, roles and permissions operate as expected, and a brief handover document explains the theme updates, user management and PayPal settings.
