Project Description
I’m looking for a skilled hardware-and-firmware engineer to create a SMART Power Distribution Unit that I can move quickly into production. The unit must include:
• Remote monitoring of every outlet
• Per-outlet and aggregate energy metering
• Built-in surge protection that meets standard safety ratings
I’d like the communication layer to run over SNMP, so please plan your microcontroller, Ethernet stack, and MIB files around that protocol. If you normally add Modbus or HTTP support, feel free to flag that as an optional extra, but SNMP is essential. 1 inlet 220V 20A, 8 outlet 220V 5A. It case refer 1U measure. Mechanical parts are manufactured by ourside.
Core deliverables I expect:
1. Complete electrical schematic and PCB layout (Altium, KiCad, or similar)
2. Bill of materials with sourcing suggestions
3. Embedded firmware that exposes all required data points via SNMP, plus a brief user guide for setup
4. Basic mechanical outline for enclosure and thermal considerations
5. Test procedure so I can validate functionality on the first prototype
Speed matters—I’m aiming to review a first design package as soon as possible, so let me know how you would structure milestones to hit an aggressive schedule.
If you have previous SMART PDU, IoT power strip, or networked power monitoring experience, please highlight it along with any links to past boards or firmware you’ve delivered.
