Project Description
I need a compact, manually operated hydraulic release system that pairs seamlessly with adjustable gas springs used indoors. The goal is to let an operator engage or disengage spring force smoothly, with precise control and zero external power.
Key objectives
• Design a hydraulic circuit and actuator that interfaces directly with standard adjustable gas-spring ports.
• Specify all components—cylinders, seals, valves, hoses, fittings—suitable for a clean, climate-controlled environment (no weather-proofing required).
• Provide 3D CAD files, detailed engineering drawings, and a bill of materials so the design can be fabricated in-house.
• Include clear assembly and maintenance instructions along with recommended fluid type, fill volumes, and bleeding procedure.
• Deliver basic stress/pressure calculations verifying safe operation at the gas spring’s rated limits.
Preference & constraints
• Control must remain fully manual: lever, handwheel, or foot pedal solutions are all acceptable as long as actuation effort stays low.
• Space is limited around the mounting point, so the mechanism should be as slimline as practical.
• I’ll be integrating this into an existing frame—mounting brackets should use common fastener sizes (M6–M10).
Success criteria
• Complete drawing set ready for machining/assembly.
• Parts list available from mainstream suppliers.
• Operation tested virtually (or with a simple prototype) to confirm smooth, leak-free release under load.
Experience with gas springs, hydraulic hand pumps, and CAD packages like SolidWorks or Inventor is highly valued. If you can take this from concept to a build-ready design, I’m ready to get started right away.
