I have two Siemens Ruggedcom models—RST2228 and RCM30—that must be fully configured for an industrial automation backbone. The switches will sit in front of our SCADA systems, so reliability and deterministic performance are non-negotiable. Core requirements • Build and document the complete configuration from factory default to final running state. • Implement multiple VLANs that logically separate control traffic, engineering access, and diagnostics. I will provide the exact VLAN IDs and naming scheme once we begin. • Establish all necessary trunk and access ports, making sure tagging is consistent across both models. • Verify forwarding, redundancy (RSTP or MRP), and security settings that are best practice for a harsh-environment plant floor. • Deliver a concise step-by-step guide (CLI commands or Rugged Operating System screenshots) so our onsite team can reload the configuration if needed. Acceptance criteria 1. Each VLAN must pass ping and broadcast isolation tests between SCADA hosts. 2. Switch logs show no topology or port errors after 24 hours of burn-in. 3. Final documentation clearly maps port numbers to connected devices and VLANs. You will have remote console and Web-based access to a lab stack that mirrors the production hardware; no travel is necessary. Experience with Rugged Operating System, Siemens utility software (RuggedCom ROS, ROX II), and industrial Ethernet diagnostics will help you move quickly. Let me know your estimated timeline and any clarifying questions, and we can get started right away.
